Baldan Bereeven Monastery, located in the territory of Omnodelger sum in Khentii Province, was established in 1777 in the beautiful wilderness of the northern side of the Mönkh-Ölzii Mountain and the northern part of the Bat River.
When they first came here to establish the monastery, it is said that an old man and woman were cooking rice. The locals tell a legend that the old man's name was Baldan.
When the anti-religious persecution began in 1930, the monks were arrested, the buildings were demolished and burned, and the sacred statues were melted down to be used for bullets in World War II. From that time, access to the monastery was restricted for almost 60 years.
In 1990, a small number of monks returned to Bereeven Monastery and, together with the local people, built a small wooden temple and revived the religious ceremonies.
