Khuvsgul Lake

Khuvsgul Lake, often referred to as the "Blue Pearl of Mongolia," is one of the country's most treasured natural wonders. Located in the northern part of Mongolia, near the Russian border, this pristine lake and its surrounding region offer a wealth of activities and experiences for tourists. 
Khuvsgul Lake is situated in Khuvsgul Province, about 800 kilometers northwest of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia's capital. The nearest town is Murun, which is approximately 100 kilometers south of the lake.

The lake is the second-largest in Mongolia by area and the largest by volume, containing about 70% of Mongolia's fresh water. It is 136 kilometers long, 36 kilometers wide, and up to 262 meters deep.
Visitors can rent boats and kayaks to explore the clear blue waters of Khuvsgul Lake. The lake's serene environment and stunning views make it a perfect spot for these activities.

The area around Khuvsgul Lake offers excellent hiking and trekking opportunities. Popular trails include routes through the nearby mountains, forests, and along the lakeshore, providing breathtaking views and chances to spot wildlife.

The Tsaatan people, who live in the northern taiga forests, are one of the last groups of reindeer herders in the world. Tours can be arranged to visit their camps, learn about their unique way of life, and even ride reindeer.
