Ulaanbaatar is connected by highway to all major towns in Mongolia and by rail to the trans-Siberian and Chinese railroad system. Ulaanbaatar is a unique city that represents 2 different aspects of living. One aspect, high rise buildings characterize the city center shows the modern lifestyle, however, the other, thousands of traditional Mongolian "Gers" in the vicinity, an area referred to by locals as "ger district" shows a glimpse of the nomad lifestyle. The city boasts numerous impressive museums and wide selection of restaurants. Although it is located at the highest altitude with the coldest climatic conditions, Ulaanbaatar will welcome you warmly.
