Tsambagarav Mountain national park

Tsambagarav Mountain located at the borders of Erdeneburen soum in Khovd province and Altantsogts and Bayannuur soums in Bayan-Ölgii province. This area is important for glaciological research and ensuring the natural growth of the snow leopard population. Tsambagarav is a perpetually snow-capped mountain with vast underground reserves of clean water.


Around the Tsambagarav Range, there are nearly 200 springs and streams, as well as medicinally beneficial mineral springs. In addition to its abundance of rare animals and plants, the area also contains numerous historical and cultural artifacts
Tsambagarav Mountain is an integral part of the Mongol Altai Range, with its highest peak, Tsast Uul, rising to an elevation of 4,298.4 meters above sea level. The largest of these glaciers are located in Tavan Bogd, Tsast Uul, and Munkhkhairkhan, with the perpetually snow-capped peaks of the Tsambagarav Range covering an area of 130 square kilometers.


Among the animals, rare species such as the argali sheep, ibex, snow leopard, as well as marmot, ground squirrel, wolf, fox, marten, stoat, and corsac fox are widely distributed. Birds include the ptarmigan, grouse, goshawk, vulture, and eagle, which are abundant.
