Khoton Tribe

The Khotons live in Uvs province, mostly in the Tarialan soum, 0.3% of Mongolia's population. Khotons use color black in clothing, attire, and household items is associated with their beliefs. "Allah" is considered the supreme deity of the heavens and the earth, according to Khotons belief.
During the 10th to 13th centuries, the Khoton tribe was under the dominion of the Khatan and Naiman Khanates. The tribe is remnants of the ancient Uyghur civilization.
