Altan Els - Golden Sand

In the territory of Baruuntuur soum in Uvs province, there lies the beautiful Böörög Del Els (Golden Sand Dune).
Stretching across 177.5 thousand hectares in its eastern part, the magnificent Altan Els (Golden Sands) appear endlessly vast and breathtaking. This majestic desert, rising above the northern hemisphere of the globe, encompasses the heart of Asia, the Eurasian steppe, the Gobi Desert, and the pristine forests of Siberia, revealing the harmonious coexistence of contrasting ecosystems.

Situated at an altitude of over 1100 meters above sea level, this area of approximately 16 hectares features oasis and 2476 hectares of diverse vegetation, including lakes, rivers, and springs. It hosts an abundance of life, from birds to small mammals, and is also a habitat for various plants, including rare species.
