Otgon Tenger Mountain

The protected area of Otgon Tenger, the sacred mountain of the Khangai range, along with its surrounding forests, covering an area of 955 square kilometers, has been under protection since 1992. The peak of Otgon Tenger rises to an altitude of 4008 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest peaks in Mongolia, and its highest point is 3752 meters above sea level.
It is located in the rugged terrain of the Khangai Mountains, with the Badarkhundaga Lake situated in its foothills. In summer, rain falls below 2000 meters, while snow falls above 2000 meters. The peak of the mountain is often covered in snow and ice. Surrounding Otgontenger, there are 108 types of hot and cold springs, 108 streams, lakes, and ponds. Additionally, 108 rivers originate from this area. The landscape includes picturesque features such as Ikh and Baga Dayan, Ikh Myangan, Khatan Beil, Duut Lake, Uvur Badarkhundaga, Möngöt Tsokhio, and Gerelt Am. 
You can see the Vanshemberüü flower /in Latin: Saussurea involucrate/ on the slopes of Mount Ikh and Baga Dayan. This flower grows at an altitude of 2500-3500 meters above sea level, only in alpine meadows and above the level of the sea. In Mongolia, it is one of the most common alpine flowers found in the Khuvsgul, Khangai, Altai, and Gov-Altai regions. The flowers are small, about 10-15 cm in diameter, with a bright blue color. They bloom at intervals of 10-20 meters, and their secret has not yet been discovered. Mongolians traditionally call the Vanshemberüü flower "Heavenly Flower."
Each year, many domestic and international climbers visit Otgontenger Mountain, aiming to reach its peak and take in the breathtaking views of the world below. Many blessings, praises, songs, legends, poems, and literary works have been created about this great mountain.
