In the western region of Mongolia, there are pristine mountains, steppes, deserts, and stunning majestic landscapes in their natural state. This area is also rich in the unique lifestyles and customs of various ethnic groups.
The most remote region of the country, that includes many National Parks, Strictly Protected areas, Nature Reserves, Nature Monuments, also home to the highest mountain Altai Mountain Range, Khuiten Peak (4374m) , biggest saltwater lake Uvs Lake Basin.
Scenic mountainous region of western Mongolian territory includes Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, Uvs, Khovd and Bayan Olgii provinces. Spread throughout the region are countless archeological sites with ancient petroglyphs, cave paintings, standing stone monuments, monasteries, and ancient forts that date back as far as 10,000 years.
The Khotons live in Uvs province, mostly in the Tarialan soum, 0.3% of Mongolia's population. Khotons use color black in clothing, attire, and household items is associated with their beliefs. "Allah" is considered the supreme deity of the heavens and the earth, according to Khotons belief.
